Frequently Asked Questions
What is steam weeding and how does it work?
Steam weeding is an organic weed control method that uses thermal energy in hot steam to kill weeds.
Steam is applied by an operator at 210-250 degrees through a hose and extended wand to precisely target the steam to kill weeds, while leaving desirable plants undamaged.
Plant tissues and foliage that are exposed to steam are “cooked” and die from heat damage.
Will my weeds grow back after steam weeding?
This depends on what kind of weeds we’re steaming, and other variables such as size, maturity, setting and time of year.
Steam can effectively control many annual weeds with a single timely treatment, but invasive or perennial weeds may require followup treatments and an integrated weed management approach.
It’s best to ask us for a consultation so we can propose the most effective and appropriate organic weed control methods for your unique situation.
